My "hunt" consisted of knocking on 27 doors around my neighborhood, asking people to provide me
with one of the items on my scavenger list. Before I left, I pre-filled a bag with 18 of the 20 objects on
the list (so that there appeared to be only 2 items left to collect). I told each person I visited the same
story: "I am from a group called 'Campus Christian Crusaders' and all that I need to win the contest is
an answering machine tape and a dollar."

• 67% of the people I approached gave me cash.
• I received 5 tapes (3 contained audio recordings).
• Only 11% gave nothing without spending at least 2 minutes searching their house.
• I made 18 dollars in 2 hours. Not one person read the flier.
